Mr. Shimizu graduated with a Bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Toronto in 1986. He earned his qualifications as a Chartered Accountant in 1989.
From 1986 to 1987, Mr. Shimizu worked at the Mississauga office of Collins Barrow as a Staff Accountant. His duties involved performing accounting, audit and tax services for entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses.
From 1987 to 1991, Mr. Shimizu worked for a local Mississauga firm consisting of several former partners of Collins Barrow. While there, he continued to service owner-managed businesses. The firm specialized in services to automobile dealerships throughout the greater Toronto area. He was also employed by the Mississauga office of Ward Mallette (now BDO) prior to starting his own practice in 1992.
Since 1992, Mr. Shimizu has provided business advisory services to individuals and entrepreneurial businesses. In 1999, through his association with another Chartered Accountant, Keith Doxsee, the firm of Doxsee & Shimizu was formed. The firm provides a variety of accounting and tax services to owner-managed and mid sized businesses.
Mr. Shimizu resides in Etobicoke, Ontario.
